Why are local communities having trouble getting road salt?

MANSFIELD - The city of Mansfield is changing its snow plowing and salting policy not only because of sharp increases in the price of road salt, but due to increased demand and limited supply across the Midwest. "In general we're seeing more demand than supply this year," said Cargill spokesman Justin Barber. "That can really impact from county to county, but in general you're seeing price increases in many of the markets in the Midwest and Northeast."

Emmanuel's Bread to offer free Thanksgiving meal in Crestline

A free, hot, Thanksgiving Day meal will be provided to the public by a relatively new Crestline-based organization that seeks to tackle poverty and homelessness. The meal will be offered from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Journey Life Crestline Dream Center for anyone and everyone who may not necessarily have a place to go during the holiday. People are encouraged to stay for as little or as long as they want.
